Anti-fouling and easy-cleaning PVDF membranes blended with hydrophilic thermo-responsive nanofibers for efficient biological wastewater treatment

چکیده
Membrane technology can minimize spread of viruses in the environment during pandemics, however, its efficiency is highly limited by biofouling. In current study, a composite membrane composed commercial material, poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF), and thermo-responsive attapulgite (t-ATP) was developed. The t-ATP synthesized surface modification (ATP) nanofiber with poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM). acted as nucleating seed to expedite crystallization PVDF hydrophilic modifier enhance wetting performance membrane. tensile strength, elongation, permeance increased increase content without compromising pore structure. PNIPAM chains were swollen or shrunken change temperature, thus releasing adhesion between biofoulants. modified exhibited superior biofouling resistance compared pristine owing property stretchable on surface. Notably, 89% easily removed through simple temperature-change coupling ultrasonic cleaning process. High PVDF/t-ATP indicates potential application for high-efficient biological wastewater treatment.

Preparation of blend hydrophilic PSF-SPEEK ultrafiltration membranes for oily wastewater treatment
Membrane separation is known as an efficient technique for the oily wastewater treatment. Therefore, in the present study, sulfonated poly (ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) was introduced into the polysulfone (PSF) solution in order to enhance the hydrophilicity and the membrane structure for the oil–water separation. The hollow fiber membranes were fabricated via a phase-inversion process. The memb...

Based on a two-step polymerization method, two sulfobetaine-based zwitterionic monomers, including 3-(methacryloylamino) propyl-dimethyl-(3-sulfopropyl) ammonium hydroxide (MPDSAH) and 2-(methacryloyloxyethyl) ethyl-dimethyl-(3-sulfopropyl) ammonium (MEDSA), were successfully grafted from poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) hollow fiber membrane surfaces in the presence of N,N'-methylene bisacryla...
متن کاملForward osmosis membrane fouling and cleaning for wastewater reuse
Membrane fouling properties and different physical cleaning methods for forward osmosis (FO) and reverse osmosis (RO) laboratory-scale filtration systems were investigated. The membrane fouling, with respect to flux reduction, was lower in FO than in RO when testing an activated sludge effluent. Crossflow velocity, air-scouring, osmotic backwashing and effect of a spacer were compared to determ...

Fouling strategies and the cleaning system of NF membranes and factors affecting cleaning efficiency
Nanofiltration membranes play an important role in the desalination of brackish and seawater as well as membrane mediated waste water reclamation and other industrial separations. Fouling of nanofiltration (NF) membranes is typically caused by inorganic and organic materials present in water that adhere to the surface and pores of the membrane and results in deterioration of performance (reduce...
